Being born in Texas, a love for salsa and margaritas is in your blood. It's biological. While North Carolina is known for many wonderful things, Mexican food is not one of them. Does good Mexican food exist in the City of Oaks (Raleigh)? Both of us are fairly new to Carolina, and we're determined to find out.
Diane was born in central Texas, and although she moved at a young age of 3, she was raised to appreciate food from south of the border. Growing up, Tex-mex was served at least once a week in her house, and she didn't understand why her friends thought it was strange to make your own homemade tortilla chips or flour tortillas. Doesn't everyone? Her stint in Sri Lanka also gave her an appreciation for good spice.
When asked to describe five things that make up the essence of who Allison is, chips and salsa made the list. Chips and salsa can make any bad day better and the really bad (or really good) days call for a margarita as well. Growing up in Texas, Allison is used to eating mexican food on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. After being ordained into ministry, Allison celebrated with her friends and family with a margarita machine in the backyard. Many girls grow up dreaming and planning for their wedding. The only part Allison has planned is the excellent mexican food that will make an apperance at the reception.
